Dark Chocolate – Good for you

Posted by  |  Posted in Dark Chocolate  |  Posted on: 8-04-2009

Dark Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate! How many people do you know who don’t like chocolate? It’s safe to say not many, right? Dark chocolate is especially yummy and as it turns out it has health benefits as well. This is especially so with dark pure coco chocolate. It almost seems too good to be true. Most people probably know that chocolate like coffee begins with a bean. Cocoa beans from cocoa trees were first manufactured into chocolate over three millennia ago in tropical South America. It has since become the most popular of all sweets on Earth. With its many varieties and different tastes chocolate is the go to of all candy ever manufactured.

Although dark chocolate is an acquired taste it remains the most popular amongst true cocoa lovers. The production of chocolate is almost synonymous with that of wine. The cocoa is harvested from the cocoa trees and then beat into a pulp. The pulp is then put into containers where it is fermented, much like the grapes used in making wine. After they are fermented the beans are laid out in the sun to dry, usually for 5-7 days. Once dried they are then shipped to a processing plant where the beans are cleaned of impurities and blended with other ingredients depending on what kind of chocolate is to be made.

Different chocolate types go through slightly different processes. Milk chocolate goes through a different process than dark chocolate for instance. Then once the desired taste has been achieved, the chocolate is stored and shipped to its final destination. Dark chocolate as mentioned before is not only a tasty treat it can be beneficial to different body systems. It has been suggested in medical studies that dark chocolate is particularly good for circulatory health. There have been modest reductions in blood pressure reported by people who regularly ingest dark chocolate products. It has also been shown to reduce bad cholesterol and prevent heart attacks.

One thing to keep in mind if you are interested in the health benefits of dark chocolate is to get the right kind of chocolate. You need to be sure that it is manufactured with no harmful additives that take away from the health benefits. But once you find the right chocolate you will be happy that there is also another great benefit to dark chocolate. It has been known to be an aphrodisiac! Desert that is healthy and sex!

How To Eliminate Addiction To Chocolates

Posted by Andy Jones  |  Posted in Chocolate  |  Posted on: 1-09-2010

It is hard to believe that a lot of people become addicted to eating chocolates. This is because chocolate is never frowned at as a harmful substance like other addictive items such as drugs. The reason is very simple, who can ever think of chocolate as being a cause of worry just like the well known addictive substances of which the users normally need help to rescue them from their addiction. There are different ways of helping them.

You first need to get to the root of what is really going on in your life as it is. Know that nothing can happen in this world without a proper reason; and the same is very true with chocolate addiction.

So face the situation frankly and sincerely that there is need for something to be done and open a page where you can record every step of the journey to self improvement. Well, eating chocolate is nothing one should be ashamed of till it starts to get out of hand.

Look back and find out how you reached the level you are in now. It is called self reflection. Try to find out what really led to this kind of overdependence on chocolate; meaning there must have been something that made you start soothing yourself with eating chocolate most of the time.

Immediately you get to this realization, you begin to see how the patterns in your life like loneliness, heartbrokenness, and melancholy for example were responsible for your predicament. These are the things you need to put down on paper from today so that you can now start taking new steps towards a wholesome life.

If you felt a bit low and depressed sometimes and had to instantly reach out for chocolates to make you feel better, and this was repeated over and over in the past. The hard truth is that you are an addict of chocolates and now you have put your finger on the reason for this dependency.

It is worthwhile to know that this is the beginning of a journey to self fulfillment because you will now be able to deal successfully with the root cause of the addiction.

Do this repeatedly even if it will go for a whole month because what you need is to be able to identify the real issues that had caused you this trouble, and had to record them whether good or bad.

3 Musketeers Dark Chocolate Mint Bar Unwrapping And Taste Test Review

Posted by  |  Posted in Chocolate  |  Posted on: 30-08-2010

Dark chocolate and mint have joined forces, and oh my is it sinful. Packaging 8/10 It’s a seemingly ordinary package, green, red and silver with just a hint of brown in there for good measure. Interesting that they decided to go for a silvery design like this, it’s like packaging a chocolate bar in aluminum foil. Which makes me wonder, could I put things in this that would normally be reserved for tin foil? Could I by chance throw a full blown pot roast into the oven surrounded by only 3 Musketeer’s wrappers? I bet I could easily bake brownies on these things, I mean it stands to reason that something that holds chocolate could easily aid in the production of more chocolate. They need to start putting that on their labels, “Buy this chocolate, and then use it to make your own!”. Tons of things have multi functional designs, I know some people that use empty Slim Jim tins for pencil holders. That would probably look terribly garish in an office environment, but it’s the price you pay for your Slim Jim addiction. It won’t matter when you’re chewing away on stick after stick of the salty goodness. You won’t be thinking about how you don’t have enough money left to buy a real pencil holder. After the Jims have been consumed, you look down at the empty tin with a sense of completeness. But that sense of completeness soon turns into anxiety. “Oh mother of mercy, “Bossman Johnson said I better have all my pencils into a tin by 5:00 PM or I’m fired!”. You glance at the clock and

All You Have To Know About Candies

Posted by Rich Kruger  |  Posted in Chocolate  |  Posted on: 25-08-2010

Candy is really a favorite of all young kids as well as many adults. The famous sugar candy is made from thick solution of sugar water that is then made tasty and attractive with the addition of various flavors and colors. These cadies are sometimes converted to ice pop candies by freezing them.

Candy is a wide term this includes chocolates, liquorice, toffees, candy bars, chewing gums and many more. Fruit or vegetable coating is put on add shine to those candies. Mostly these are known as confectionery or sweets. Lollipop is referred to as a sugar candy with a stick. Distinct candies such as fairy floss or cotton candies are quiet famous and therefore are favorite of many children.

Candy is manufactured by the diluting sugar in milk or water that is then boiled to get the required consistency. The end result from the product depends upon the time period used for boiling the mixture and also the ingredients used in the process. These are available in various forms and textures like chewy, soft, brittle and hard. Peppermint sticks, gum drops, lollipops, cotton candy, toffee, praline, rock candy, peanut brittle, taffy, caramel and candy bars are a couple of the varieties, which are available in the market.

The consistency of the candy will depend on how much sugar make the mixture. This mixture is boiled till water gets evaporated. The higher the temperature where the mixture is boiled the harder the candies become and the lower the temperature used in boiling the softer the candies become.

All the stages for boiling the sugar are: soft ball- temperature 234-240 F, 112-115 C, sugar concentration 85 %, thread- 230 -233F, 110-111 C, sugar concentration 80%, and soft crack- 270-290 F, 132-143 C, sugar concentration 95 % are a few of the stages used for making different candies.

Gelatin is added in most candies like gummy bears and marshmallows which is made from animal bones thus restricting the vegetarian people to consume them, for e.g. kosher gelatin which is manufactured out of fish bone. Some candy may contain pectin, gum arabic, agar agar which can be substitute for gelatin, but the final expertise of the products may vary in the original usage of gelatin. Other commonly used non-vegetarian product could be the carmine, which may consist of wings as well as other body parts of some insects.

The candies can be edible for the period of 14 days to around one year. The edibility of the candies and sweets could be increased when they are stored in dry and cool places. These candies contain high amount of sugar which can be harmful to health. So it is better to have this confectionery in limited quantities. Our mouth contains bacteria which reside on sugar thus creating acid in mouth and then the cavities. To avoid the cavities and spoiling from the teeth it’s important to brush your teeth regularly and neatly preferably after every meal or after eating something sweet.

Why Stars Adore Candy

Posted by Rich Kruger  |  Posted in Chocolate  |  Posted on: 22-08-2010

Candy offers concentrated solution of glucose water which is then mixed with different flavors and colors to make it tasty and attractive. Chocolate can be of many types like candy bars, sweets, toffees, liquorice and many more. A coating of fruit and veggies is applied to give the candies a shine.

Candy is manufactured out of a variety of glucose diluted with water or milk, which is brought to a boil till the required thickness is acquired. The final out come of the products totally depends on the time taken for boiling and the ingredients used for making of the candy. Various forms and different types of textures are available; the different types are soft, chewy, hard and brittle. The thickness or the consistency of the candy depends upon the amount of the sugars added in the mixture. The mixture is boiled until the water from the mixture gets evaporated completely. Higher temperature makes the mixture hard and low temperature makes the mixture soft. So the temperature is the main factor to get the desired consistency of the candy.

The different temperatures at which the sugar is boiled are : thread- 230 -233F, 110-111 C, sugars concentration 80%,soft crack- 270-290 F, 132-143 C, sugar concentration 95 % and soft ball- temperature 234-240 F, 112-115 C, glucose concentration 85 %. Specific temperatures are set to get the desired texture of chocolate.

Missing Some Popular Candies During My Childhood

Posted by Andy Jones  |  Posted in Chocolate  |  Posted on: 20-08-2010

I remember all of the different types of candy I use to eat as a child. When you think about it, most of us did. We may not eat as much of it now, but we still love it. Lately, I couldn’t help but notice that all of the different candies I use to eat when I was young are not around anymore.

There were so many advertisements and campaigns aimed at all of these different kinds of candies and it seemed like they would always be around. There were advertisements everywhere, all the time to make us aware of these popular candies. Since then a lot of these popular candies aren’t available anymore. Perhaps you will remember some of these classics.

One candy I remember was popular back in the eighty’s. The name of the candy was Bonkers. Although it was oddly named, kids were crazy over the fruity and chewy taste.

Bonkers candy flavors ranged from fruit flavors like strawberry, to chocolate flavored. Oddly enough, shortly after the chocolate flavor was released the bonkers candy become more and more rare on the shelves.

One of the most popular candies from back in the day was Bubble Gum. There was even a Bubble Gum flavor that came in a juice box. This candy is very rare to see around these days.

Unlike today’s gum, the Bubble Gum juice boxes had hundreds of little gum pieces in them. You would have to eat a lot of them to get the full flavor of the gum.

The mars bar was another very popular candy back in the day that you don’t see around now.

However, the Snickers Almond tastes just like the Mars bar. While it may not be the same name, if you try one you will see where I am coming from.

I will always have fond memories of these long lost candy favorites.
