Cool Trivia About Sweets

Posted by Matilda Jennings  |  Posted in Chocolate  |  Posted on: 26-04-2010

We all loved to eat candy when we were younger didn’t we! I don’t suppose that we eat as much nowadays, although the craving can still sometimes be there now an again. There are a lot of candies back then that no longer exist.

You would have thought that with all the media coverage of the day that was afforded to the Candy Industry, that these types of candy would in fact out live us all. This has proved not to be the case sadly, and many of our favorites are no longer to be found on the shop shelves, below are a few examples.

In the Eighties there was a popular candy that was fruity and chewy and also creamy. These were advertised everywhere you went and kids of the day loved them. They were called Bonkers, but they do not seem to be found anymore.

Bonkers had a great range of flavors to choose from, watermelon, strawberry, and chocolate, but it was not long after the chocolate flavor came out that Bonkers seem to disappear.

Do you also remember the Bubble gum that used to come in a mini Juice box? There were lots of different flavors to those. Although Bubble gum has not entirely disappeared, it was much more popular about 20 years ago.

Today you get your Bubble Gum in sticks or a few pieces per pack. Back then, especially in the mini Juice box, you got lots of little pieces, and this meant that you had to grab a handful at once just to get the taste.

Does anybody remember the Mars bar? Another of my favorites way back then, with its Almond and caramel taste, lovely chocolate bar!

Well Mars bar is still around, only now it is called something different. No big announcements have been made, but if you taste a Snickers Almond you will see what I mean.

How I still remember the sweets of yesteryear with fondness.

Remembering Several Great Candies

Posted by Lance Baker  |  Posted in Chocolate  |  Posted on: 16-11-2009

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a soft spot for candy. All kinds and flavors, it didn’t matter as long as it was sweet and interesting. When I think of the ones that I loved growing up, I’m surprised to realize that many of them can’t be found in stores these days.

They used to be mainstays in candy stores, pharmacies, and grocery stores, but they seem to be gone and out of reach these days. Let’s take a look at some of the more enjoyable candies from the past that no longer seem to exist.

Bonkers were huge in the mid ’80s. Their commercials were everywhere on TV, and kids loved these candies. Chewy, fruity, and somewhat creamy all at once, these were a lot of fun to eat.

These were really enjoyable and came in flavors like watermelon, grape, and even chocolate. They disappeared quickly in the ’80s, before making a surprise return to the scene during the late ’90s and then fading yet again. I haven’t seen these in stores in years.

Juice box bubble gum. You’ll probably remember these if you were around in the ’80s. These came in mini juice cartons, and they came in flavors like orange and grape.

The gum came in the form of small pellets, and people would essentially sip it from the box as if they were drinking juice. They would chew it from there, of course.

Mars bars. These were a really big one not too long ago, but they no longer exist. Where are they? The Mars company is still around, so where did these go?

The Mars bar still exists, only they call it Snickers almond. There wasn’t much of an announcement made when this happened, but you’ll notice that the ingredients are the same should you happen to try one.

This all brings back memories, doesn’t it? Any others that you can think of?

There are two types of balloons to choose from. Latex balloons and foil balloons. These are available in various shapes, sizes and colors.

A party looks majestic with the help of party supplies and balloons. The birthday cake should be given all the importance than the other things. It should not be the birthday cake that should sync with the but all the other things should be in sync with the birthday cake.

Therefore, do not put so much attention on party supplies and decorations at the expense of the birthday cake. The birthday cake should be given the priority it deserves. You may not necessarily plan for the cake first, but if you don’t, ensure that ample time is left for this most important item.

Party cake decoration are the next to be thought over. If the cake is not decorated up to the mark, party cake decorations can help in this case. If the cake is already mouth watering, the decoration over it can make the children really go for it!

Of course, there are other decorations to be had. It all depends on the theme of the party. The decorations can be edible or not, and they can be made by yourself or comes with the cake from the baker’s. Alternatively, you can purchase small items that are suitable as cake decorations. Exploring what is available before making the purchase is a good idea and is always advisable. The internet proves to be your friend here and helps you browse many images so as to find the right one.
